Q: Will watch connect to a dead iphone?
I misplaced my iphone 4 days ago. My watch says it is connected when I am at home but disconnects when I am not. It is leading me to believe my phone is at home. But when I call my phone it goes to voicemail, and i can't hear it when I ping it. If I've been gone for a while, my imessages come through on my watch when I get home. Find My Phone says it is offline. So, is my watch really connecting to my most-likely-dead phone in my house?

Hi
Your watch is likely connecting to your home Wi-Fi network, which it tries to do automatically as a fallback when a Bluetooth connection with the paired iPhone is unavailable.
To check this, if you are using a version of watchOS earlier than watchOS 3, swipe up on the watch face and swipe left / right to the Settings Glance. Connected and a green cloud icon mean that it is connected to Wi-Fi.
The same information is available in Control Centre under watchOS 3.
