if your iPad is still having issues after these two continue to this
Reset your iOS device to factory settings - Apple Support
if problem still persist contact apple, you have 90 days complementary support with a new purchase.

Sep 27, 2016 9:58 AM in response to JimmyCMPITby LAP54,The tips above did not solve the problem but I followed them in case. I tried the ones below too but nothing helps.
I did phone Apple support and they have recommended that I take the iPad into an Apple store.
Trouble with that is, it is too far away as I have no transport.
