Opening Photos and Documents are VERY VERY slow - makes me crazy to see the spinning ball for so long

Since downloading Sierra it take forever for photos and documents to open --- when I search in

documents the screen ofter freezes

Also I can no longer backup to a Seagate external hard drive --- it just says it's "preparing for back-up"

How can I remove Sierra? Can I do it with TimeMachine?

Hi WiscEllen,

I understand that after updating to macOS Sierra, you are having some difficulties opening files and searching. I know it's important to have your computer working efficiently, so I'm happy to help.

Based on your description of this issue, it sounds like a good step would be to reset your SMC, which can often help with performance issues like this. You can see more about this process here:
Reset the System Management Controller (SMC) on your Mac - Apple Support

If you wish to revert to a previous version of OS X, check out the steps in this article:
OS X El Capitan: Revert to a previous OS X version

Alternatively, you can revert back to the version of OS X that your computer came with here:
Use the version of OS X that came with your Mac, or a compatible newer version - Apple Support

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities. Cheers!
