iOS 10.2 Since installing iOS 10 Mail does not sound or give any notification.

I am using an iPhone 6s Plus and now have to check the Mail app to see if there are any emails and at that point, once they have loaded in, a badge appears and my notification sound is played. I have checked numerous settings, done a complete reset; all to no avail. Apple support was also at a loss. Any help would be appreciated

Hi,

This problem persists at least if you are using Gmail. I think it is not on Apple's side but on Google's. The only workaround that comes to mind - this is what I do - is installing another client: gmail or Spark, for example. Those do display the badge with the number of unread messages. If you want to use "Mail.app", just keep it active, only that the notification of having new mail will come through the other app. :-)

Hello smeetshim,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

I understand from your post that you are not receiving any notifications or alerts for your new emails until you open the Mail app and the new emails are loaded. I know how important it is for you to be able to get notified in a timely manner without having to open the app itself all the time. The following steps will help ensure everything is set up properly for you to receive your mail notifications:

1. Tap Settings > Mail > Accounts.
2. Tap Fetch New Data.
3. Make sure Push is turned on.
4. Tap your email address email account and make sure Fetch is selected.
5. Tap Fetch New Data in the upper left corner.
6. Scroll down and make sure that Fetch is set to Every 15 Minutes, Every 30 Minutes, or Hourly.
7. Tap Mail in the upper left corner.
8. Tap Settings in the upper left corner.
9. Scroll up and tap Notifications.
10. Scroll down and tap Mail.
11. Make sure Allow Notifications is turned on.
12. Tap your email account and choose which options you would like: Show in Notification Center, Sounds, Badge App Icon, Show on Lock Screen, Alert Style When Unlocked, and if you want Show Previews on.

Best Regards.

This basically is a setting to allow the emails to be fetched. This is not the normal setting for push notifications. You never had to set it or 15min, 30 min or hourly. In fact you would always leave it in manual. Setting up fetch this way would provide a temporary work around but it will also drain the battery quicker.

The iOS 10 has way too many pesky bugs like this and Apple is not even acknowledging that this is a problem.
