Q: icloud drive

I recently activated icloud drive to backup my Documents Folder and noticed files started to disappear.  I assumed that my files were moved to icloud drive, but apparently only the folder structure.  Folder structure (i.e. all subfolders) is in place as before in icloud drive, but most folders are now empty with no trace of files that were contained in them before.  I have tried to find my files both through icloud.com and icloud drive link in finder, with no luck.  Any ideas on how to get to see my files?

Size storage indicator lead me to assume that files are stored somewhere in icloud drive, but I cannot get to see them, only empty folders.

Are you able to see the files or missing folders at iCloud.com?

Might be a beta problem you can report.

Try going to System Preferences/iCloud and stop syncing. Wait a couple of minutes, then recheck syncing.

Have you tried signing out of iCloud and then sign back in?

I am just discovering that I am missing files and folders that I created and saved on iCloud Drive.  Im trying to place when exactly the last time was that I accessed this folder...I believe within the last 5 days. Issue seems separate of developer created folders like Pages, Numbers, Pixelmator, and Preview; those still have (I think) most of the files. Specifically, I am missing a Folder with sub-folders of files/photos and a few miscellaneous files that I created and saved on iCloud Drive.  It's wiped clean!  I work primarily off my iPad Pro, but don't see them in iCloud.com either.  A few files were available to recover in icloud.com->settings->Advanced-> Restore files, but not the folders of significance I was hoping for...

You should start your own thread, get assistance on you own problem.
