I just washed my ipod shuffle!

Got back from a work trip to Las Vegas, came back with man flu.
Staggering around at home, decided to empty my luggage into the washing machine, added washing powder, conditioner, set it to 40 degrees and went to bed.

Woke up 4 hours later to find the floor of my bedroom floor soaking wet, the washing machine had blocked up and decided to empty all its water on the floor. on investigation my shuffle headphones, which were in a sweater top..with my shuffle had blocked up the filter and there in the middle of my 40 degree washed and conditioned clothes was my bruised around the edges shuffle.

I turned it on but it was dead. Sad I moved about mopping up the floor and removing dead headphone cord from the washing machine filter. Damrned thing was so small. It didn't have a chance and i wasn't thinking straight.

After the worst was mopped up, i thought what the **** and I took the little guy to the charging stand and plugged it in. The lights came on and started to flash.... it was synching!!! I left it overnight charging and tried it this morning on my commute and it worked for 2 hours fine, no damage, just worked!

Absolutely amazed. I guess as it has no hard drive and wasn't on, there's not a lot for water to mess up. I think had it gone in there switched on it would have been dead.

Obviously, to be avoided but these are tough little units. Ideal if you are a dumb bloke with cotton wool for brains.

Happened to me, too- 2G shuffle and headphones went through the wash. Before reading the advice on here, naturally the first thing I did was turn it on (no luck) and try to sync it (no luck). I waited a week- no luck. Finally ordered a new one. The day it arrived, I tried the washed one again (approx 2 wks later), and it worked! It plays fine, but the battery drains after you turn it off. So minor inconvenience, but it and the headphones are still usable.
