Q: I'm worried that my external is about to go.

Hey all,

I have an external Seagate 1TB disk drive with one partition which has been working fine for the 9 months I've used it. When I plugged it in to my MacBook Air, it would instantly connect ( 1-2 seconds ). However when I plug it in now, it's quite slow to connect ( 4-6 seconds ). There was also an incident where the disk drive did not show up after I plugged it in and it showed when I restarted the computer with the disk drive plugged in.

So I ran Disk Utility's first aid on the root of the external disk drive and the following showed up in the details dropdown: ' problems were found with the partition map which might prevent booting '. However, I did get a message letting me know the disk drive was ok and there was nothing else in the details dropdown that suggested a problem.

I also ran Disk Utility on the partition. and here was the output in the details dropdown:

Then when I checked the Console for for additional output, I found these lines:

Should I be worried about these messages? What would the suggestions be to fix them? Hoping to fix a potential problem before it gets worse.

There are two potential things that I remember doing which may have contributed to the problem:

1. Recently, the plug connecting my MacBook Air to the Disk Drive is a little weak, so occasionally the disk will be improperly ejected due to moving the computer. I'll get a new one, but has this caused the error messages above - how do I fix those?

2. There have been times where I've quickly added and removed lots of files or heavy or downloaded files straight to the disk drive from Safari or Chrome. Could this cause and issue? How do I fix this issue?

Please see a few screenshots attached for additional information. Looking forward to the responses and hoping it's an issue that can be sorted easily enough!
