Q: Device not found

i tried dr fone to restore my iPhone 4s and it was able to find data on iPhone , for a fee . I've tried all the different steps in iTunes to restore but i keep getting errors . One was error 48 , another was 1 . And another was device cannot be found . I don't understand why my phone is in recovery mode when all I was trying to do was erase content , reset it the iTunes logo came up and I have not been able to use my phone since . One time I tried it in iTunes , extract software and restoring phone went thru whole process . While doing that the apple logo came up with the progress bar and finish . When it finish I got an unknown error . I really thought it would work that time but it didn't . Why can other software programs that charge a fee can find data on my phone but iTunes cannot . I have win vista , latest iTunes for vista . Have uninstalled and reinstalled  iTunes so many times  I checked host file , Apple does not show up in host file . When I connect phone to of iTunes wil

As far as why your device is in recovery mode is  a question that probably cannot be answered. As far as the error codes you provided, those are hardware codes. The next issue you are facing is that you are using an out of date computer OS. Windows Vista is not being supported any longer by Microsoft or Apple. The last version of iTunes that supported Vista was 12.1.3, which does not support iOS 9.3.5, which is the latest iOS supported on the iPhone 4S. You can make an appointment at the Genius Bar of the nearest Apple Store to see if you can get the device restored, or if the issue is actually hardware. They can explain your options.
