Keep getting "joined your shared calendar" notifications

I set up a shared location reminder, then deleted it a week later. Now I'm getting daily notifications in the lock screen that the people it was shared with have just joined. e.g bob joined your shared calendar

The reminder appears to be deleted from both icloud and my ipad/iphone. All devices are running ios 10.0.1
