Is the disk out of the old TC?

If so then yes, you will need a SATA to USB adapter plus power (3.5" drive cannot be run from USB power), plug it into the computer.. locate the folders you want and drag drop or copy and paste it to the 4TB drive.. which is not a standard size.

Are you simply upgrading the drive in the TC from 1TB to 4TB?

We strongly recommend you do not transfer TM sparsebundles as they seem to behave poorly. Just start a new backup. You can simply copy the files for the rest of it .. there is no great complexity involved.

    Thank You for Your help.

Yes, I am just upgrading my "old" Time Capsule by replacing the 1TB drive with a 4TB drive.

I thought "to have it all" I just add the data from the 1TB drive to the 4TB drive. But of course, since my MacBookPro just holds about 400GB of data, it is probably not necesserary and maybe does not even work propperly.
