Verizon iPhone 5 New IOS 10 update problem: Cannot receive/send phone calls. Verizon store said it is an Apple update causing people's phones to crash all day. Any input or advice, please?

Every time Apple updates the software I have this problem. I try so many things that I never figured out what works other than dumping my phone and reloading everything. This one worked right away! I am writing this one down for the next time. This is the third time an Apple update has disabled my phone from receiving or making calls. The carrier had no bars. After this simple fix I have 4 bars!!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

Does it say no service at the top?

I have had no problem on the iPhone5.

Basics from the manual are restart, reset, restore

Follow the 3R's- if a restart does not solve your problem proceed

User troubleshooting is:

1. restart, ie power off/on,

2. reset http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1430,

3. restore from backup, restore as new device. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414

I Was having the same issue, I could use cellular data but all phonecalls would fail. Following the support article above I updated my carrier settings and that resolved the issue. The steps was to go to settings -> general -> about and i scrolled down a bit and it asked me to update carrier settings which i said yes and at first nothing happened and i could still move around in the menues but in 30~45 seconds my signal came back in the top left.

Here is the solutiom that worked for me. Disabled wifi, and disabled LTE or any roaming services. Then pressed on Air Plan Mode three time and then my iphone finally picked up signal as 3 G. I made one phone call and once the call went through I enabled LTE and wifi.

I really hope this will take care of this issue for you as I was trying all other solutions posted online which didn't work for me.

Hi. I had this problem too and I temporarily fixed it by going to:

Settings -> Cellular -> Cellular Data Options -> Turn off Voice & Data Roaming.

Now instead of 0 bars of signal I have my usual 2 bars.

My iphone5 worked just fine yesterday and then today I had no bars but I had plenty of data. That was a pain as I was traveling. Thanks Apple for mucking it up. I actually had to make a FaceTime call while driving. Ugh. I had reset it, rebuilt it and still had no bars until your roaming suggestion. Thank you!

Settings -> Cellular -> Cellular Data Options -> Turn off Voice & Data Roaming got it working for me. Still not happy as this keeps it from roaming, I assume. Hopefully another update soon.

This worked for me, as soon as I disabled all roaming the service came back. I made one call and put the settings back to roaming. I have an iPhone 5.
