Reminders in iOS 10 is not working correctly .

When a reminder pops up in the lock screen, you used to be able to slide it over to acknowledge it. Now you have to go the extra step to view it first. Then it may or may not give you the option acknowledge it, set a reminder. If it does happen to give you options to acknowledge it, it won't function at all. I can push any button but nothing will happen.

And it is hit or miss if the reminder will show up on the phone at all! I see the reminder on my mac and my watch but not my phone! Something aint right!

This should be support for an iOS 10 App right, but it is not allowing me to select that community! Agh!!!

Same problem here. iPhone 6s, iOS 10.2, cleanly installed a few days ago: Notifications for reminders and calendar events only work sporadically.

When they do, the sound occurs, as does the alert badge. When they don't, neither the sound nor the alert badge occurs.

Two times missed notifications occured late:

Once after a reboot. The reminder was displayed as "15min ago".

Once without a reboot, a few seconds after the succeeding notification fired successfully. The reminder was displayed as "10 min ago".

Example:

I can schedule a few notifications in a row: first one in 10 minutes, second one in 20 minutes, third one in 45 minutes. First one and third ones work, second one does not.

I'm wondering if this is somehow related to iCloud use (it should not be). I don't use iCloud. I use CalDAV calendars. Synchronization works perfectly. Anyone else with this kind of setup?

For testing purposes I deactivated CalDAV calendars already, using only the local ones. Same issue though. :-\

Hi margish,

if possible, please contact Apple support about this.

There is an internal issue (I was told without activity since Dec 2016) which hasn't gained much traction yet, as Apple personnel has not reported many devices as affected yet. Unfortunately, I didn't think of asking for the ID. Maybe you could and post it here for reference. The issue relates to reminder notification reliability with iOS 10.

We really need more tracation on this. I have no clue how this issue can stay under the radar for so long while being this serious. I myself was already able to reproduce it on all iPhones I was able to test as of now, which were 1x iPhone 6s, 1x iPhone 6. These were unrelated phones, both running iOS 10.2.

The most convenient method for testing for me has been to schedule a few reminders in a row (with no delay in between) with Siri and let the phone rest. Reminders do seem to work better when the phone resp. display is on.

"Remind me to Test One in 3 minutes."

"Remind me to Test Two in 10 minutes."

"Remind me to Test Three in 25 minutes."

"Remind me to Test Four in 45 minutes."

"Remind me to Test Five in 75 minutes."

In most cases at least one of them doesn't fire, and for me it is often already the second one.

If you do not clear the notifications, you will have a nice overview of which reminders fired and which have not in the notifications bar.

BTW: I have tested this with reminders on a caldav list, on a local list and on an iCloud list. All of which were affected, while, with the few tests I did with iCloud, I had a slightly better hit rate (better reliability) with the iCloud list. (possibly a coincidence)

Hi.

Same here. I have noticed since ios 10, that some reminders doesn't fire its notification. Some of them enables the badge count, others no. Sometimes I receive a notification when I wake up the iphone even if its 5-10 minutes later. Others are even more silent. A total mess.

I have tested as you suggest to set several reminders in a row. In my case, one each hour so I can easily identify if there is one missing. And I have lost 2 of the first 6. The first one arrived 3 minutes later when I wake up my iphone. The second lost was completely lost. Even after using my iphone was still dissapear. I have had to enter in reminders app where this reminder was marked as postponed.

I have decided to test 3 differents things to see in the next hours if there is any improvement:

1) Disable badge count, i.e. no red icon in remiders app. I found some time ago that notifications in whatsapp behaves differently depending on this setting.

2) Disable reminders link with iCloud. Just working locally.

3) Disable "up next" widget so there is no other access to reminders app.

None of this are supposed to fix anything but I'll try and inform.

Regards.

I have tried all of the tests that you will perform.

Icloud was my main suspicion also. I even played with family sharing in case that was it.

NOTHING!!!!!

I tried new accounts, removing old ones... Nothing!!!!

Widget...Nothing!!!!

Hard Resets, new phones... Nothing!!!!

Apple is a master at covering problems that are serious by just ignoring them!

Not a word from them on this issue which is stated in numerous threads.

I personally faced big problem at work because I missed an important reminder.

1000dollar phones that can't do what they advertise. What a let down.

Sooner or later people will wake up....

Yes. These tests miserably failed. I would say that even more frequently.

Now I'm working with just default reminders list deleting any other list. So far it is working but I have no hope.

My next step will be using a 3r party app. The closest I've found is gtasks although it lacks of persistent notifications and siri functionality. But at least it is expected to deliver on time notifications.

I am not a fanboy neither a hater. This is my second year in iOs ecosystem. ios9 was very polished and I enjoyed it a lot. Only one bug related to camera delay. But this ios10, honestly is full of severe bugs that are not being solved after 5 months. Apart of this reminders unconceivable error, also the earpods/mic stop working randomly letting you with no sound until reboot. And the infamous 30% battery bug which doesn't affect me but seems to be quite extended.

I would definitely revert to ios9 if there was a chance and forget about this ios 10 nightmare.

I'm so glad to see some of you have actually tried and successfully replicated these problems instead of simply exclaiming "mine works fine, it must be your phone". I'm so sick and tired of that response, people come here with legitimate concerns. There is most definitely a bug with iOS reminders. When you report it to Apple include a link to this thread.

Jan 27, 2017 6:56 AM in response to FreundMoses

I've noticed that if I use some apps, such as mail, safari, phone app and update some apps through the store then next reminder is more likely to fail. I guess that reminders app is being killed.

I'll probably try a full clean install with no restore backup at all just to rule out the chance of a corrupted configuration (my 6s is a replacement that I restored from the previous 6s backup, which was updated from ios 9)

Anyway, before doing this, I'll test it in my wife's 6s which came directly with an ios 10 version. So far she has not suffered this but her usage is quite minimal. I'll set the pattern test first and depending on the result I'll perform a extra clean install or not...

Everything was perfect until I bought my iPhone 7 with iOS 10.I cant rely neither on reminders nor notifications.Sometimes it will work, sometime it wont and sometimes it will work with no sound.Other times it wont even trigger when the time comes or complete, until I launch the reminders app.I pray for the issue to be fixed with every update,to no avail. I tried everything, from hard reset,to new setup or even multiple backups. Reinstalled a multitude of different apps and still nothing. In the end,I got my old 15$ phone just for reminders.

So sad....

After I changed 3 devices after having this problem, I bought the Google Pixel XL after risking my job with missed reminders.

If Apple doesn't care...

We can just leave!!!

Enough is enough!!!

If Apple doesn't solve this with ios10.3, I'm never coming back even if they make a phone that walks the dog!!!!!

We spent enough of our money on them I think!!!

What a great thread, albeit no solution posted. I'd say I copped this bug 2 mins after it got installed on my phone. I use Reminders ALL the time and I use Siri to set them ALL the time. I have missed COUNTLESS reminders since they sporadically have stopped popping up on my screen, words can't describe the annoyance! Here's hoping for a LONG OVERDUE FIX!!!

Same issue with IPhone SE and IOS 10.2.1

* I have many reminders set to Yearly repeat (birthdays for example).

* All of my reminders priority is always set to NONE (I hope it is not required option?)

* ICloud is not connected for reminders

* No reminders widget

Problem 1: I simply don't get scheduled reminders.

Problem 2: I often get ALL of my reminders in one time. Always when I reboot the phone and some times even during the regular phone work.

Thank you.

PS the request: Can you please save my last behavior in reminder creation and enable "remind on the day" and "repeat" options next time I'm creating a remind? All of mine are set with such options. It will be usable.

I contacted Apple and we did a 1and a half hour chat (maybe more) with their "engineers" trying to figure out any possible reason.

We tried any possible duplication of the problem.

Nothing came out.

This bug is diabolic!!!!!!

The result was that "our engineers are aware of the problem and working on a solution in a future update".

So my friend....

It doesn't harm to post here.

Maybe someone with coding knowledge can read all the reports of users and suggest something that actually works.

Apple doesn't seem to have what it takes to locate the source of the bug for now.

And that is a fact.
