Q: Disk warrior external HDD light went off

I'm using DiskWarrior to do an external hard drive rebuild to save the files, if possible. Hard drive does not show up on the desktop, which had been viewable as a USB device on system profiler. During the rebuild, the light on the Seagate external HDD went off and is no longer viewable from the system profiler as a USB device. Should I cancel the rebuild? And should I try disk arbitrator to "stabilize" the disk and run disk warrior again?

Can you describe the actual problem that caused you to run DiskWarrior "to save the files"?  That may provide a clue about your current situation.

If DiskWarrior is "stalled forever," you'll need to cancel the rebuild eventually.  How long has it beed running?  It can take a long time, if repairs are being made by DiskWarrior.

DiskWarrior works by repairing the drive's directory data (which defines where files are stored).  There are other types of utilities that scavenge the drive for the actual data.  For example

If you try again, hold option key when selecting Rebuild to see if it can scavenge a new directory to copy files from.
