Q: Poor Reception iPhone 7 Plus

Hi,

I recently upgraded to the iPhone 7 Plus and I am getting horrible reception, people can't hear me or I sound muffled, (I had no issue on my 4S or 6 Plus).  My provider is the same, Bell Mobility in Canada, and I'm using the phone as I did the others, there is also no case on the phone.  I've noticed the signal bars all over the place at times, I know those are not an exact science but they've been very erratic.  For the most part I can hear whom I am talking to, but people have a hard time hearing me, has anyone else noticed poor call reception on their iPhone 7 Plus or have a fix for this issue?

Thanks,

JD

As I posted previously, I've had the same issue as the rest of you regarding poor voice quality, limited (or no) data, and falling into No Service often.

For fun, I installed iOS 10 beta (I was running it on my iPhone 6 previously). I have had significantly improved quality of both voice calls and my data signal. I still switch to airplane mode a few times per day to "reconnect" but it quickly finds LTE and I'm back to a solid data connection. Note: I use my phone as my hotspot to work remotely and my current location is certainly "rural".

As a frame of reference, my iPad mini (Verizon) usually has 3 bars of LTE. My iPhone 6 (AT&T) was about the same - sometimes 4 bars - but usually LTE. Pre-Beta install, I had No Service on my iPhone 7 and when service did show I was actually not connected. I've been using my iPhone 7 solely now, on iOS beta, 3 bars of LTE, with no problems (fingers crossed).

Just my $.02...hope that helps someone!

    Hello,

I came from a Galaxy s7 and a iPhone 6s +, currently do not have either but upgraded to the iphone 7 then 7 plus. I first noticed my bad reception at work. Now reception isn't the best normally at work but on the prior s7 and 6s+, I could stream Netflix or youtube just about all day long. Ever since I upgraded to the iPhone 7, I cant stream Netflix hardly at all!

Three other reasons I am considering going back to the iPhone 6s Plus:

1.) The picture quality isn't that much different. Unless your one of those people taking SLR pictures and posting the best pics online for people to see or even selling them, for normal family photos and such, there is hardly a difference, the only difference I see is in low light situations, in some test photos, I could see the leaves on a tree on the iPhone 7/+ at night where as I could only see the branches with the iPhone 6s+ but in other cases, I took a picture of myself (not front facing camera) and the 6s+ had let more light in than the 7....

2.) The home button, sure the new home button is cool but I find myself at times pushing the home button with the tip of my finger/nail and it doesn't catch on the iphone 7, of course since the iphone 6s plus has an actually push down button, this is not a problem.

3.) The audio 3.5mm jack. I didn't realize how much of an inconvenience this was going to be! I listen to music and movies a lot while working, and guess what? I cant charge my phone and listen at the same time! So when my battery is dying I have to charge it for 2-3 hours before I can go back to listening. Now of course I bought wireless head phones but today I forgot them at home, so now Im have to juggle the charging and ear buds again. Very annoying!

So with these 4 issues (including the reception) issue, I am truly considering going back to iPhone 6s plus. .

    Hi

Apple has today released iOS 10.0.3.

This fixes bugs including an issue where users may lose cellular data connectivity:
