Q: Which repair tools for El Capitan

Hi Everyone,

My Mac Pro 3.1 has for a while now been going on a bit of a go slow with the spinning beachball appearing all too often so I thought i'd better do some maintenance now before its too late!

I see theres a number of products out there i.e. DiskWarrior, Drive Genius Techtool Pro etc that all do similar things but can anyone recommend a 'standout' or do I really need them all?

OS X El Capitan (10.11.3), Nvidia Geforce GTX 670 • BenQ FP241W

You don't really need them and you would be better to put your money into a 500GB SSD as a boot drive.

Then you can use a cloner software, like Carbon Copy Cloner to make a clone of the existing hard disk to the boot disk (assuming you don't have >500GB worth of files on it. )

If you have not used SSD before.. you will never go back to spinning drives.

Samsung 850 Evo series, are excellent and fast value for money.. but check yourself what is recommended.

No real need to buy all that software, which may in fact impede your 3.1 more.

Make sure any third party apps you use are up to date for El Capitan.

You could download this, http://etrecheck.com/#about and post the results back here

so we can see if there might be something that is causing the slow downs.
