How can I update my OS X 10.9.5

Hi there,

My laptop crashed and my husband managed to put my original operating system on which is OS X 10.9.5

I lost everything and my battery doesn't work any longer.

I'm now trying to upgrade the operating system however I can't seem to find any available option for an upgrade. What should I do? Please help

MacBook Pro, OS X Mavericks (10.9.5)

your Mac; MAcBook pro 15 inch late 2008, is not supported for Sierra.

The link in my previous reply listed:

MacBook Pro (Mid 2010 or newer)

SInce neither Yosemite or El Capitan are no longer available from the Mac App Store and you have not previously downloaded them, if you go to an Apple store they may be able to download EL Capitan for you since that is the last version your Mac will run.

- Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

You can download El Capitan using the link below.

El Capitan

Check to make sure your applications are compatible.

Also check to make sure there is a compatible driver for your printer.

Do a backup before installing, preferable 2 backups on 2 different drives.

One place you can get a replacement battery.
