Q: Some Partitions on External Drive won't mount - El Capitan 10.11.16, MacBookPro 15" late 2011

Hello all,

My Seagate 3TB was working fine an earlier operating system and I finally upgraded to El Capitan and the drives would force mount on computer sleep (common problem apparently) and now the drive is mounting one partition (general, files I have saved), but will not mount the other two (one of which is my Time Machine partition).

Any one got ideas? Both on accessing my partition and stopping the force dismount on sleep issue?

Thanks for any help!

If you have some Seagate software installed, try uninstalling it and just let macOS handle the drive on its own.

The Mac does not need extra software to handle the drive, and it has been known to cause problems. If you still want to use it, check for an updated version, but I suggest you just uninstall.

Luis, thanks for the response. There was no Seagate software that I am aware of, so it's likely not that issue I think.

    Thanks again for the attempt!

I think the issue is still open.
