Q: Disk Utility not working anymore?

El Capitan, is it me or you?

Have had Boot Camp with Windows 10 running, and now i am trying to remove the partition created by the Boot Camp Assistant.

No matter what i do, its only possible for me formating the partitions, and not removing them, making them unpartitioned so that i can expand the OS X.

The old tool was easy, and just point and click, but this one throws a bunch of different errors at me, when i try to perform a simple simple thing.

It matters not, if i click at disklevel, and use the partition button. The partition is stuck. It was even possible for me to format it and install the OS on the new partition, but it... will... not... remove... the old one.

Am i the only one experiencing this? Even trying diskutil with the %noformat%, wont work.

Everything you want to do with BootcampAssistant created partitions should be done with BootcampAssistant and NOT with DiskUtility.

    Thanks for the reply Lex.

That makes no sense though? Having a build-in tool, that manages partitions, but is not capable of doing just that. And starting BootcampAssistant, now complains that the disk isnt formattet in a single partition?

BootcampAssistant cant be run now, since the disk isnt in one partition?

Makes no sense to me. There must be a technical explanation, to how i fix this.

Like I said: BootcampAssistant is the only app that can change or delete what it has made. Not DiskUtility. It may be an anachronism, but it has always been that way.

Well... I tried to run the BootCamp too again now, and somehow the dialog made me able to remove the remains of the bootcamp partitioning.

Thanks for the help mate - i will let this one rest in peace
