    el Capitan upgrade made using FaceTime, photo booth, Skype, unworkable for video chat because the camera would not work.

    One fix was terminal: sudo killall VDCAssistant, or restart, witch would work for a while and then camera would not turn on again unless I did the restart/sudo thing all over again.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Not for me, my son lives in London, we use it every week, no problems at all. How do you fix something that works?

     

    Where did you get the fix from, Apple or some guy on the internet?

    Sorry for the delay

    I got the info. here at apple community,indirectly from a post from someone with the same problem

    I'll cross fingers and do Sierra. We are using iPhones for commo with daughter in Jordan. When FaceTime works on the macbook its just that much better. Two times a day, every day. Thanks again
