Q: Carrier stuck on "Searching" after restart or airplane mode toggle

Problem

Whenever I restart my phone, or toggle airplane mode, the carrier on the top left of the screen gets stuck saying "Searching". Another issue I've noticed is if I disable, then enable LTE, it gets stuck saying "No Service". However if restart the phone with LTE disabled, it connects to the carrier just fine.

Troubleshooting

Here are the things I've tried. Please note, I am well within LTE range and service. I have full bars where I live.

  • Update carrier settings. (I'm with PC mobile, they work off the Telus network in Canada)
  • Update iOS (currently 10.0.2)
  • Restart iPhone
  • Reinsert SIM Card
  • Reset Network Settings
  • Reset iPhone
  • Restore iPhone
  • Got iPhone replaced at Apple Store

Work Around

The only way I have found to make my phone functional again is to make a phone call. This connects to the carrier and gives me full bars every single time. Then the phone is fine again until I restart or toggle airplane mode.

Question

Is anyone else having these issues? I've read that people on AT&T were having issue, but iOS 10.0.1 and 10.0.2 apparently fixed it for them. I have no idea what to do about this.

iPhone 7, iOS 10.0.2
