Q: How do I stop Mac OS Sierra from crashing?
What do you call a four-year-old computer that crashes at the mere request to be unlocked? Normally I would say Windows(!), but that is now happening with my Macbook Pro ever since installing MacOS Sierra. It has taken me ten minutes to get this unlocked during which I time I reset NVRAM which achieved little, then restarted again and it booted into Disk Utility without me asking it to and then threatened to waste hours of my time by making me reinstall from a backup. I just switched it off and on again and then it worked. Fortunately, I didn't lose data, but I could have.
My iPad4 - running the second public release of iOS10 - has also crashed several times including twice without me even using it. I just go to unlock after a while of inactivity and I get the message that the passcode needs to be entered after restarting.
I have had no usability cautions or warnings that my devices may not work well with these operating systems.
All this make me wonder where does the "Apple Tax" money go? It clearly doesn't go into better product stability or reliability. It seems to just go into making Apple Inc.'s cash stockpile even bigger.
MacBook Pro, OS X El Capitan (10.11), refurbished with an SSD added.
