Q: Major iOS 10 Stability Issues

I have an iPhone 6 and an iPad Air. Both devices are having the same problems.

I'm having numerous issues with applications crashing and more importantly the devices constantly are entering into a soft reboot state where the phone appears to restart all of it's processes showing me the spinning circle for a few seconds. There is no method to how this happens, sometimes I'm just writing a message or going to a website. I could be browsing a map or scrolling through Instagram and the phone will just restart.

I have tried doing a full DFU restore thinking that would solve the problem and it didn't. I'm running the latest version of iOS 10.

Is anyone else having issues like this and do you have any idea of how to fix it?

iPhone 6, iOS 10.0.2

Do you use an app called MediSafe? I've noticed the most resets I have happen when using that app. I know they are having issues with iOs 10's notifications. Their custom notifications don't work with iOs 10, yet.

That's the only app that's causing me a problem. But, it's valuable enough to me to keep using it. I imaging they will get it sorted out.

I don't use that app so I am struggling to find which app is causing the problem.

I would look first at any apps that allow you to customize the notification sounds.  Medisafe has already informed their users that some of their issues are due to a problem with notifications in iOS that Apple is currently working to fix. Perhaps there are other apps with custom notifications that are having similar issues.

I am not aware of any app I have that allows me to customize the notification sounds.

So far today I have only had one soft reset and it was not obviously possible to associate it with an app.

My investigations have got me no where. As mentioned above I have done numerous soft and hard resets And I have restored to Factory Settings. With the restoration to Factory Settings the soft resets stopped. Once I then restored to a back up I made just before testing by restoring to Factory Settings the soft resets started again.

What I find really puzzling is yesterday I only had one soft reset but today I have had six. On all occasions I was not using the iPhone 6 and the soft resets occurred whilst the iPhone was idle. To me that seems to make discovery of the problem almost impossible.

The soft resets continue but strangely not at night although the iPhone 6 is not on Do Not Disturb. By night I mean approx 7.00pm to approx 8.00am.

I Have just had my first soft reset in 17 1/2 hours this followed on from a period of approx 6 hours in which I had 5 soft resets.

I Have a feeling it is connected to the battery percentages for my iPhone and Apple Watch appearing or rather not appearing in the Control Centre. I have noticed that for some reason from time to time the Battery Percentage for my Apple Watch (and iPhone) stop appearing in Control Centre. They reappear after an unforced soft reset occurs (the iPhone does the soft reset itself and not at my request). Is this the iPhone attempting to re-establish contact and show the Battery Percentages in the Control Centre ? Does this make any sense to anyone ?

This is a really helpful post. I would feel better if Apple were to acknowledge the issue and state that they are working on a solution. But Apple won't do that. Apple will pretend its product is perfect and at some point release a software update that will only explain in cryptic terms what it does. In the meantime, support tells to repeatedly to restore my iPhone. I am not a happy customer.

I have kept a record of restarts since 10-5 and where I was on the iPhone 7 when it happened:

    10-5: Home screen

    10-6: Home screen

    10-7: Home screen

    10-11: Home screen

    10-13: Home Screen

    10-13: App Store

    10-14: Home screen
