I understand you are having issues on your iPhone 5s not recognizing your Apple ID and password so you are not able to receive your emails or download any apps from the App Store. I like to be able to check my emails and download apps onto my iPhone. Let's see what we can do.
The first thing that I'd recommend is to make sure that you are signed out of the App Store by going to Settings > iTunes & App Store. Tap on your Apple ID, if shown, and sign out. If you are using iCloud for email, then please make sure to sign out of iCloud in Settings > iCloud. Then close out the Mail and the App Store apps and restart the iPhone.

Once back on the Home screen, please add your Apple ID information into the iTunes & App Store and iCloud settings and sign in and then attempt to download an app and also check to see if you are getting emails now.
