Q: Wake screen for Watch 2

From time to time when I raise my wrist to check the time on my new Watch 2 I will get something other than the watch face displayed, usually, but not always, the weather app. I have On Screen Wake set to "While in Session" in the Watch app on the iPhone. This isn't something I had ever seen on my first gen Watch, but I only had it for a few days after updating it to WatchOS 3, so I don't know if the issue is the new OS or the new Watch.

iMac, macOS Sierra (10.12)

    Hi Ron

On your iPhone, in the Watch app, go to: My Watch (tab) > General > Wake Screen - under the heading "On Screen Wake Show Last App".

If "While In Session" is already selected, but your watch is not returning to the watch face after using, for example, the Weather app, then the following steps may help:

    • Choose a different setting (eg Within 8 Minutes of Last Use), wait for a few moments and then change it back to While in Session.

    • Return manually to the watch face (by pressing the Digital Crown) from any existing, open app before testing whether the change has become effective.
