Q: iPhone 6+ is getting error after iOS 10 update: iTunes could not connect to the iphone because an invalid response was received from the device
Hello Apple Community,
I have a slight issue with my iPhone 6+ when connecting to iTunes via my PC. I'm receiving the following error "iTunes could not connect to the iPhone because an invalid response was received from the device." This issue started right after I updated to iOS 10.
This all started because I downloaded some music from the iTunes Store via my PC and my Wi-fi sync was not working. After reading an apple help article on how to restore the wi-fi sync, it asked me to connect my iPhone to my PC. That when the error popped up.
I should note, that I'm running a PC with Windows XP and iTunes version 12.1.3.6. I'm assuming this is the issue but I want to confirm. (Please Note: my wi-fi sync with my iPhone and PC was working fine with the above system config. and the latest version of iOS 9.)
Here's the troubleshooting steps I've taken so far:
- It's not the USB cable. When I connect it to the wall adapter, the phone charges. Also, when I do connect it to my PC, it charges and my phone asks me if I "Trust this Computer". iTunes simply does not recognize the phone and I get the error: "iTunes could not connect to the iPhone because an invalid response was received from the device."
- Confirmed my Wi-fi network is working by connecting other devices. As a precaution, I reset the network setting on my iPhone. It connected to my wi-fi network with no issues.
Is there anything that can be done? Any help would be really appreciated. Thanks in advance.
iPhone 6 Plus, iOS 10.0.2, null
