Q: Garage Band Mystery

The Manage Storage Link in Sierra tells me Garage Band is taking up 1.7GB of my space. But I don't use it, don't have it in my applications and long ago trashed any ancillary Garage Band folders in my Library or Users Library. So where is it and how do I get rid of it?

Mac mini, macOS Sierra (10.12), 2.6GHz Intel Core i7

Are you using GarageBand on a mobile device? iPad, iPhone? Then GarageBAnd projects synced to iCloud may be taking up storage on iCloud Drive.

But I don't use it, don't have it in my applications and long ago trashed any ancillary Garage Band folders in my Library or Users Library.

Did you trans all GarageBand projects from the GarageBand folder in your Music folder? GarageBand may have saved songs to the Media Browser.

There may still be GarageBand Loops in these folders:

    • Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support/Logic
    • Macintosh HD/Library/Audio/Apple Loops

But the loops may be needed by iMovie - at least the Sound Effect loops.

Trashed the entire Garage Band folder in the Music folder and all Apple Loops. There still some music stuff left in the Logic folder but nowhere near 1.8 Gigs worth.
