Q: "No Cell Coverage" listed in Battery usage

When checking the Battery usage in Settings, on an iPad Air 2, WiFi and Cellular, updated to 10.0.2, "No Cell Coverage" is listed, and is using a lot of the battery percentage. This has never occurred since purchasing the iPad two years ago. I've recently updated to iOS 10.0.2, and have T-Mobile as the cellular carrier. This happens when both Wi-Fi AND Cellular Data are turned off. I barely use the cell service as it is, primarily just use wifi, and I never leave the cellular data connection on when not using it. I noticed a few days ago a T-Mobile "Carrier Update" was pushed to the iPad. Anybody else with the same situation?

    Your iPad Air 2's battery usage is indicating that it's searching for service even though you have Wi-Fi and Cellular data turned off after updating to iOS 10.0.2. Since Cellular Data is turned off, it shouldn't be affecting the battery and I'll be glad to help you with this. Be sure to test after each numbered step.

    How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch -- Before troubleshooting any device, I always recommend a fresh backup. It's better to "have" one than to "need" a backup.

    1. Force an app to close on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch -- First, quit all of the currently running applications, then Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch -- Never underestimate the power of a good restart.

    2. Reset iPad settings -- Be sure to write down your Wi-Fi networks/passwords before starting. On your iPad, go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings. This step will return your iPad's settings to factory default. Test, and if that's fixed the issue, use your backup to restore your settings.

    Thanks, Jeremy. I've already backed-up as usual, quit apps, and restarted. Also rebooted. I went through the settings, did not Reset them, and changed a few things in Location Services. I noticed "Share My Location" was turned ON after the iOS 10.0.2 update, it's always been turned off previously.

     

    The "No Cell Coverage" item in Battery Percentage is now gone and hasn't reoccurred. I'm not sure what the actual fix was, or why it initially occurred, but thanks for your response.
