Q: Automator doesn't seem to recognize SOME .tif files

Hello everyone,

I'm using Automator to try to convert batches of photos from TIF to JPG. I followed some simple instructions online to set it up with the following:

Get Specified Finder Items > Change Type of Images > Get Folder Contents > New Folder

I dragged some TIFs to Get Specified Finder Items, pressed run, and it worked great, creating a folder that had the new JPGs in it.

I tried to do it again with various other TIFs, but each time I get a warning message that says, "The action "Change Type of Images" was not supplied with the required data." I haven't gotten it to work again after that first success.

I compared the files that were converted successfully and the ones that weren't. They're almost the same. Both groups have a .tif extension, and all the files were exported from a scanning app. I did notice that when I viewed these files in Finder, the little preview panel on the far right of the finder window has a small difference: the files that worked say "TIFF image" next to the file size, while the files that didn't work just say "TIFF" next to the file size. Not sure if this is significant.

Any suggestions?
