lightening cable not connecting

Whatever lightening cable, Apple's or others, I use to connect to my iPhone 6 plus, I have to move the head insert about in the iPhone receptacle to get it to charge, usually push it in again and again. Then it releases and I have to push it in again to make a connection for charging or to my Mac. Is this a defect in the receptacle for iPhone 6plus or is there some other reasons?

Thanks,

Stuart

If you are not already doing so, ensure that you use only either genuine Apple Lightning cables or cables that have been certified as Made for iPhone (MFi).

Using uncertified or counterfeit cables may damage your iPhone and/or adversely affect operation, including charging. Also note that Apple's warranty does not cover damage caused by use with a third party product that does not meet Apple's specifications.
