Q: Approve iPhone for iCloud

Hi Guys,

I just updated my iPhone 6S Plus to iOS 10. 2 factor authentication seemed like a good idea (I use it for other services already, and I have an iPod handy, that's already signed into the same apple ID), so I proceeded with it. Now I'm stuck on an "Approve This iPhone" screen in order to set up iCloud.

I know the message is supposed to pop up on the iPod, and it has in the past (when I first reformatted the iPod to use the same Apple ID, and later when I got a replacement iPhone, and had to authenticate it using the iPod).

For some reason, the message is not coming up on the iPod. What's funny is, registering here, a message popped up on my phone (while ON the approval screen!) asking me to authenticate my computer.

Is there any way to force the code on the iPod? Or am I basically screwed from ever syncing my phone with iCloud?

Thanks!

iPhone 6s Plus, iOS 10.0.2

To add insult to injury: just went to iTunes on my PC. Attempted to view account settings, and it asked me to log into my Apple ID. I did, and it came up with the 6-digit verification code.

On both my iPhone and my iPod, I got the "Apple ID Sign in Requested" pop-ups. So, it would appear that both devices are signed into my Apple ID correctly. Just, for some reason, my phone wants me to Authorize it again -- and won't push out the request to other devices.

The design of 2FA is for requests to go to "any of your trusted devices".

Try signing out of all Apple services on the devices not responding and start again. Or a reset of network settings, then maybe all settings or a restore using iTunes.

I tried signing out on my iPhone (iOS 10.0.2), and signing back in. Once again, I do not receive the sign-in notification on my iPod (my only other "trusted device"). My iPod is running iOS 9.3.2. While there is a pending software update to 9.3.5, it is still running a version of iOS 9 and should receive the verification message.

Once again, when I logged into the apple discussion forum, it asked for a verification code, and the authorization message popped up on both my iPod and iPhone, even though I had signed out and signed back in, and am still waiting for authorization on the phone.

Here's a screenshot I took, with my phone on the "Approve this iPhone" screen, with the sign-in request pop-up (from signing in to the discussion forum on my Dell/Windows Laptop).

So, even though I haven't fully signed into my Apple ID account on my iPhone (waiting for approval), I still get the request pop-up.

Until this issue is resolved, I'm not able to download new apps (requires Apple ID logged in), change some settings, or access some features of the phone.

Sorry.. I am confused by this. You have said both the code does and does not arrive on your iPod.

    Sorry, to clarify:

When I log into this forum (on my laptop), the message arrives on both my iPod and my iPhone. My iPhone is still pending authorization, however. If I completely log out of iCloud on my phone, and log back in, it goes to the "pending Authorization" screen (shown above), and no authorization code ever arrives to my iPod (which is my only other authorized device).

Until my iPhone is authorized, I cannot do anything iCloud related -- this means I cannot sync / backup my phone to iCloud, I can't download new applications, and I can't access certain features, like the game center (although I rarely use it anyways).

I think I'm just going to take all my stuff to the Apple Store tomorrow, and see what they think.

Edit: And, viewing my account settings through iTunes, it says only one device (my iPod) is associated with my Apple ID -- so my phone isn't even associated with it, but I still get the authorization pop-up on my phone, when I log into the forum, which I find very strange.

On the phone with them now. Been talking to a level 2 tech for 40 minutes now, and they can't figure it out either.
