Sep 28, 2016 1:01 AM in response to zacmobileby Kenichi Watanabe,Do you happen to have a USB power adapter, like the one that comes with iPhone (or other device). If so, connect docking cable for the respective device to the power adapter, and see if iPod charges from a power-only connection. They should, unless the USB docking cable is faulty. But you have two devices that use different docking cables, so it seems unlikely that both became faulty at the same time.
In any case, as a first step in determining the cause, see if your iPods are able to charge from a USB power adapter (if you have one).
To rule out the iMac's USB port not providing power for some reason, connect some other storage device to the same USB port. A USB flash drive would a good test, because it draws power from the port and has a data connection.
To rule out interference between connected USB device or insufficient power for the collective draw of connected devices, shut down (power off) the iMac and disconnect all USB devices. You can leave standard USB keyboard/mouse connected, if used. Put the shuffle's power switch in the OFF position. Do a Reset (restart) on the nano

Start up iMac, run iTunes, and connect one of your iPods to a direct USB port on the iMac, by itself. Try more than one port. Try the other iPod.
