Sep 28, 2016 12:54 AM in response to AJTOAOby léonie,Does it not work at all? Have you tested to sync just a few photos and not all at once? Is it possible to sync at least one JPG file to the iPhone?
Error message is: "The iPhone "iPhone 6 Plus" could not be synced because the sync session failed to finish"
Des the sync finish, if you do not try to sync photos at all? It might be a different synced item that is causing this message.

Sep 28, 2016 1:05 AM in response to léonieby AJTOAO,Thanks for the fast reply, léonie!
I have tested to sync just a few photos (e.g. remove or add an album), and even this fails. The error always appears after 2-3 minutes of the status message "Reading Photos library", then "Waiting for changes to be applied", then the error message pops up.

Sep 28, 2016 5:36 AM in response to AJTOAOby léonie,★HelpfulTry, if removing the iPod Photo Cache from your Photos Library will help:
The procedure is described here: About Photo Cache folders - Apple Support
If that does not help, make a backup and repair your Photos Library. as described here: https://help.apple.com/photos/mac/1.0/index.html#/pht6be18f93
