Q: Final Cut Pro trial won't install - it says "can't be installed on this disk. The contents of this disk cannot be changed."

ARe you an admin user? Can you post a screenshot of what you're seeing in the dialogue.

Right click you Macintosh HD icon and select Get Info.

Are you authorised to read & write as the Admin User.

You have to click on the Macintosh HD. You can't install it on the disk image you downloaded.

Takes you through what process? Post a screenshot of your Applications folder after you've run the installer.

What's in the Applications folder? Use Launchpad and type in Final Cut.

You have already installled, and are trying to install again, instead of actually starting the application, which is now installed in the usual place: /Applications

Simply close the installer, and eject the disk image, since you don't need it anymore.

Then:

-either go to Launchpad, as Tom said, and click the Final Cut Pro icon, OR

-open the Applications folder and double-click Final Cut Pro there, OR

-press command-space for a Spotlight search start typing the name Final Cut Pro and press enter.
