Q: can't see screen after auto start up scheduled

So I've always used the energry saver feature where you can schedule when your mac mini will automatically turn on. I always set it to turn on the moment my alarm wakes me up every morning. But since i've upgraded to the latest OS Sierra, there has been an issue. My mac mini will start up no problem, but when i turn my tv on to log in, i dont see the start up screen to my mac mini for me to log in. my tv screen says "no input", its not getting a signal from my mac mini. i selected in the energy saver options to not let the screen go to sleep mode, since my screen i'm using is also my tv, its an LG LED tv. i do have selected "let harddrives sleep when not in use" option. but thats never been a problem. i can hear when i hit the "enter" key the ding you hear the computer make when theres nothing to enter.

so does anyone know why my tv says theres no input when my mac mini is actually on? has this happened to anyone else? how do i fix it? does my tv need to be on before i turn on my computer?

Mac mini, Mac OS X (10.6.7)
