Q: Can I install 10.6.3 to my Mac Pro I bought second hand
Hi,
I have just bought a second hand Mac Pro. It came installed with 10.6.3 and the seller included the install disc. Am I able to use this disc to do a fresh install of the OS, so that it is registered in my name. After doing this I intend to buy the upgrade to OS 10.7 off the Apple web site.
Thanks.
Mac Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.5)

Once you have 10.6.3, it takes several trips through "software Update to get to fully functioning Mac App Store in 10.6.8. be sure you keep running Software update until there are no more updates.
10.7 Lion is sold in the Apple Online Store. It is delivered as an access code, by email, and the process requires human intervention at their end, so it will not happen over a weekend. Instructions for applying in the code are included in the email(s). Once the code has been applied, 10.7 becomes available for Re-Download in the Mac App Store. (Note you must deal with each of the two stores to get this done.)
