Q: iphone 6 won't access yahoo

Hi,

My 16G iPhone 6 suddenly stopped connecting with Yahoo--mail, search, articles, everything. It also will no longer allow Candy Crush to connect  with Facebook. (Which might be a good thing, but still...) The problem started Monday.

I have no problem with any other sites. I would assume this is a Yahoo hacking-related problem except for the Candy Crush/FB issue. I have no problem accessing Yahoo from my (Windows) computer.

When I try to add my Yahoo mail account to the mail app, it take me to api.login.yahoo.com and nothing happens.

When I try to go to yahoo.com on Chrome, I get "This site can't be reached."

When I try to go to yahoo.com on Safari I get "Safari cannot open the page because it could not connect to the server."

When I try to connect Candy Crush to FB, I get the same "Safari... could not connect to the server" message

Here is what I have tried:

Rebooting (numerous times)

Updating to IOS 10.0.02 (I had not updated to 10 prior, but the problem started before update)

Resetting network settings

Deleting mail app and reinstalling

Adding Yahoo account manually

Deleting mail app and installing Yahoo app

Deleting Yahoo app and reinstalling mail app

Deleting both Candy Crush and FB and reinstalling

Profanity

Hurling iPhone across room

Any further suggestions?

iPhone 6, iOS 10.0.2

Can you open your mailbox with Yahoo (Mail) app? Did you verify your date and time stamp on the phone is accurate? Can you access other http secure (https) websites? If you access the web thru WiFi router, did you verify your DNS settings are correct?

Does this apply to you? https://help.yahoo.com/kb/SLN15241.html

I can access other secure sites, yes.

No, I can't access my mailbox with the Yahoo Mail app.

I haven't checked DNS settings, but I have tried turning off WiFi and that didn't work. (Also tried turning off cell and just using WiFi with no success.)

Not sure how to check date and time stamp.

I don't think the link applies because although I do use two-step verification, it's not a matter of being unable to log in. Since I deleted and reinstalled the app, I can't even add my Yahoo mail account.

To check date time settings: Settings > General > Date & Time

I'd disable 2 step verification (and app password) temporarily just for the sake of isolating the source of the problem.

    Thanks.

Date and time are correct. Disabling two-step verification didn't help. I also just tried creating a new account via the Yahoo app on my phone and got the  "Could not connect to the server" message.

Got it figured out--it was the update of my Freedom app. Deleted the app and the problem was solved. Alerted the developer.
