Q: Iphone 6 message app not working after ios 10 update

Hello!

After installing the new ios to my iphone 6, the message app is not working properly.

When I run the application, pops up the "new message view" not able to do anything.

If i press cancel it goes to the messages menu not showing any of my messages.

The only way to readan reply an incoming message, is to do it when it pops up in the main screen.

Anyone had/have the same problem with my Iphone 6

Thank you for your time

iPhone 6, iOS 10.0.2

    Hi, DimChrist!

Thank you for using the Apple Support Communities! After reading your post, I understand that your Messages app is not working as expected. While you can view and reply to incoming messages from their notification, if you open the Messages app itself you do not see a list of your messages, and cannot create a new message. I rely on Messages every day myself, so I definitely want to help make sure your app works!

I have some troubleshooting I can offer to help get things working as expected. Before you begin, I would recommend creating a backup of your iPhone, following the steps here: How to back up your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Once your backup has finished, please follow the steps below, in order. Test your Messages app after each step, stopping when the issue has been resolved.

    1. Force close the Messages app, as described here: Force an app to close on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

After force closing the app, restart your iPhone following the steps in this article: Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

    2. Restore your iPhone to factory settings, using this article: Use iTunes on your Mac or PC to restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to factory settings

Once the restore is complete, set the iPhone up as a new device (meaning without using your previously created backup, at least temporarily). You can sign into iCloud, iMessage, FaceTime, and the iTunes & App Store using your Apple ID.

    3. If the Messages app works without any of your data on the iPhone, you can restore your backup using the following article: Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch from a backup

If the issue was not present while the iPhone was set up as new, but returns after your backup is restored, there is a likely conflict with data from the backup. You would then restore the iPhone to factory settings again, and this time set the iPhone up as a new device without restoring your backup at all.

    Have a great day!
