Q: iPhone mysteriously creates duplicate Mail account

My iPhone 6s has mysteriously duplicated my iCloud account in the mail app. All the same mailboxes and messages.

That situation is not present in my Apple ID on my Mac mini. Is it safe to delete the "new" account in Mail?

iOS 10.

    Hi Marc Stergionis1,

I understand that you are curious about what to do with this duplicated iCloud account on your iPhone. I know it's important to have control over your accounts, so I'm happy to help.

Since iCloud stores the messages on the server, it will be safe to remove the extra iCloud account. To do this open Settings > Mail > Accounts, select the extra iCloud account, then at the bottom tap  Sign Out. When prompted, you will want to delete the items from your iPhone to prevent duplicates of your contacts and other iCloud data.

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities. Cheers!
