Anyone know what error code: 4MOT/4/40000003 Main-3827
My iMac 27 inch, late 2012 EMC 2546, fan runs at a constant 3800 rpm. Ran Apple Hardware Test which returned error the above error.
That means you need to take the computer to an Apple Authorized Service Provider to have the hardware fault repaired. A very quick Google search yielded:

rkaufmann87, prior to posting I did search for the exact error I'm having and nothing comes up. The code you mention is for a hard drive sensor issue. Not the case here. Trying to avoid a trip to service provider which is the primary reason I posted here. Wanted to confirm it's the fan that's faulty before I find a replacement. I've installed fan controllers and none can slow the speed of the constant 3800rpm.
The reason I suggested taking it in is because Apple does not publish error codes. Therefore only an AASP will be able to answer exactly what part has gone wrong, otherwise you are left guessing. I realize you are trying to save money however sometimes when you try to do things yourself in order to save money it ends up costing more because of errors. My suggestion still stands.
