Q: Transfer iMessages received from one iPhone to a new iPad
Up until last week, all my iMessages and SMS texts were being received by both my iPhone6 and my iPad. I accidentally dropped my i6 in the pool and found myself off to my local rep for a new phone. I was all set to purchase a new i6 when the manager offered me a package deal which included the new iPhone7 along with a new iPad mini. The new phone went through the set up process, through iTunes on my MAC, but before I updated my new mini, i took my old iPad and updated / sync'd all apps to make sure when i went through the set up process for my new iPad mini, it would have the latest info.
I found most everything went smoothly with one great exception. The new i7 phone appears complete with all emails, contacts, and all SMS text and iMessages. the iPad mini is another story. My contacts and emails were there, but SMS and iMessages were blank.
I would think there should be a way to load my previous texts and iMessages onto my new iPad mini, just like automatically happened with the new i7 phone. I read somewhere that it happens through iTunes but have not been able to find the setting. Would have made a difference if Messaging was set up and activated on my Mac? Can iMessages be archived somewhere unknowingly?
Any assistance would be appreciated.
