Q: ringtone issues

I downloaded a ringtone on my iPhone 5S and used it as an alarm tone on the standard clock app that is on all iPhones. I now have a 6+ and since the update to ios 10, the ringtone wont play when the alarm goes off. When setting the alarm and selecting the desired ringtone, it plays said ringtone, but when the alarm goes off it defaults back to the default sound from the app.

I found a few suggestions on here as to how to get it working but none worked. Deleting all alarms, closeing the app and starting again didn't work. Rebooting the phone didn't work!

Any ideas?

    Hi Simon_68,

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!

We understand that a purchased ringtone on your iPhone 5s will not play as your alarm. It seems that you have already completed some great, specific troubleshooting already but the issue continues.

At this point, we would like you to reinstall iOS on your iPhone; this will help us isolate the situation further. Reinstalling iOS should not affect any of your data, but it is always a best practice to make sure you have a current backup in either iTunes or iCloud.

How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support

Once you have a current backup, follow the steps from the "If your device turns on but gets stuck during start up" section in this article:

If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch won't turn on - Apple Support

These steps will reinstall iOS. Keep in mind that these steps were written for a different issue, but they will still help us isolate the situation further. Test out the alarm and ringtone after the reinstall is complete and let us know if the issue continues.

    Cheers!
