Disk Almost Full, But Not Really...

I keep getting alerts that my disk is almost full when I have 226/500GB of free space available. Any Idea how to fix this on 10.12.1?

2014 rMBP 15"

MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2014), macOS Sierra (10.12)

No idea how to stop it but I'm occasionally getting this message on my Mac Mini since upgrading to Sierra. I have a 1TB fusion drive with 900+GB still available!

Try booting into safe mode. Press shift key before the power button. then check if the problem has been resolved. reboot to normal mode after which. Hope this will help.
