Q: I fell into the Yosemite Trap.
I didn't realize Yosemite has so many issues and my systems where out of date, so I set my laptop to update automatically and it killed my access to bootcamp. I tried Various programs and followed advice from other people having issues but non of it worked. Is there any new up to date info on this since most posts are at least a year or two old? Here are the basic questions everyone asks answered.

You may need to deactivate System Integrity Protection to use this program. See
https://www.quora.com/How-do-I-turn-off-the-rootless-in-OS-X-El-Capitan-10-11
for more information.
You have either El Capitan or Sierra. Please see About System Integrity Protection on your Mac - Apple Support . You will need to disable SIP by booting into Local Recovery (using Command+R - not Internet Recovery) and click on Utilities -> Terminal and type
csrutil status
csrutil disable
csrutil status
Boot normally and check the output of csrutil status which should now be disabled.
Unable to open device '/dev/rdisk0' for writing! Errno is 1! Aborting write!
This error confirms that SIP is enabled. OS X Automatic Updates, if enabled, should give you the latest released OS X version, which is currently Sierra.
