Q: Max number of hard wired Apple products

I am using an Apple Time Machine as my main router. I want to add several Airport Expresses and/or Apple TV's to put music around the house. These will be hard wired because my house has Cat 5 everywhere.

Is there a maximum of devices on the system?  (I will use switches to provide more ports to router).

Airport Express and Time Machine, iOS 10.0.2

From a network point of view. 254 devices can connect.

No domestic router will actually work properly with that number of devices.. but the setup should handle all you need.

If you use airplay to lots of devices.. that is entirely different to the network issue.. and I really am less than sure of limits.. you should google around as people do run into problems. As long as you send the same stream to everything it should be ok.. you cannot use different streams without using multiple sources.. and most likely split networks.
