Q: offline playlist crashing music app

I overtime I open the music app and open a certain playlist it crashes the app. All the other playlist play fine except of one of them. I even deleted the playlist and just created a new one with the same songs and it still crashes.

iPhone 7 Plus, iOS 10.0.2

I Looked around and I found this link Re: Music App crashes when opening playlist "My Top 25" another person found a way around it. If live updating is disabled in the smart playlist through iTunes, it lets you use the playlist without crashing the music app. Weird but it worked for me.

Hi there yumal,

It sounds like your Music app keeps closing when you open a certain playlist on your phone even after recreating it. I would start by quitting the Music and the Settings apps:

Force an app to close on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Then restart the phone and test it out again:

Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Still nothing. I also took to the apple store and they could not fix the issue.

Thanks for the update!

Next I would suggest signing out of your account in Settings > iTunes and App Stores. This will remove any music downloaded from Apple Music so if you have an account that content will need to be re-downloaded. Then restart the phone, sign back in and try again.

If that doesn't resolve the issue then I would next back up your phone to iTunes on your computer:

How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

Then restore your phone to factory defaults and make sure the Music app opens as expected.

Use iTunes on your Mac or PC to restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to factory settings

When it does work, go ahead and restore your backup to your phone with this article and verify that it still does:

Restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch from a backup

i have deleted all music, restore from other back ups and still nothing. I seeing the same thing happen on my iPad that updated to iOS 10, 10.0.1 and 10.0.02. The music app opens like normal but then it crashes when I open only one of the playlist I have. every other playlist opens fine Without the app crashing. The playlist is the one playlist I have all my new songs go to when I download them.
