Q: wav file import not importing tempo

I recently imported wav files from a pro tools session into logic 10.2.4.(using mac 10.11.6)  Dropping them in I expected Logic to ask if I wanted to import tempo and markers but that didn't happen.  It just imported them in.  Is there a preference or something I am missing to cause this to happen?  Any info would be appreciated.  Thanks.

Try using the file ->import->audio file method and see if it asks you to import tempo.

If it doesn't your audio file does not contain tempo information and it is likely a problem on the export side.

I have tried it both file import and dragging them in.  Neither asks for tempo.  Since these are the original wav files inside the pro tools audio folder my question would be can wav files be recorded without tempo info?  Wasn't that the thing that makes wav files different then aiff?  Was there a time when wav files didn't contain tempo info?  These files are a few years old I believe-could that be the issue?
