I didn't get this before macOS Sierra, but now it happens very frequently.

I have the same problem! Since I upgraded to Sierra, Dictionary.app crashes constantly. I searched the net but haven't found a solution. In fact, this page is the first mention I have found that mentions the problem. It's annoying because I use the app many times every day in my work.
Try deleting these two files from your Library/Preferences folder and reboot:
com.apple.DictionaryServices.plist
com.apple.InputMethodKit.UserDictionary.plist
sorry but it happens again after deleting them and rebooting.
nothing will help with dictionary. I checked with my friends and all have the same problem, dictionary is missing. but they are not posting cus they never used it. I think there is a bug and apple should make updates.
I experienced same issue, too. And I found that the issue is dictionary dependent. It must be caused by multilingual character processing. When I only select "New Oxford American Dictionary" and "Oxford American Writer's Thesaurus," the issue has gone away.
In my case, I have tried them but still have problem. But I am pretty sure that it happens with multiple choice. I think single choice of for example "New Oxford American Dictionary" don't crash my dictionary but when I choose any two, it happens.

You are right. I tried and the crash happened with only two dictionaries selected.
I also found following things. If you select multiple dictionaries on preference, you can select only one dictionary on the dictionary's search selector on main window (except 'All'.) You may not experience frequent crash.
It is not so pleasant but usable. Under this condition, switching dictionary by "Command" + "numeric key" is really convenient.

Yes, I tried what you said and found it is useful. I use this for the time being but I hope Apple(?) will fix this problem.

I have this problem, too, and it's extremely frustrating. Apple should really get to work on a fix for this bug - which of course they created in the first place with the new OS – or at least let their users know that they're aware of the problem and working on it.

Dear Apple, PLEASE fix this Dictionary problem. I need my English to Chinese and Chinese to English dictionaries working, and the Dictionary app has been crashing on me constantly ever since I updated to macOS Sierra. Before Sierra, it would crash on me maybe once a month so it's no big deal. However, now it crashes constantly when I'm using it. I restart it, type the same word that crashed it, and then boom it crashes again. It's very frustrating.
I understand how frustrating it is as I'm a constant user of Dictionary App, too. Apple seems to have found a solution to this issue finally. I participate in the Apple Beta Software Program. After upgrading to macOS Sierra 10.12.2 Public Beta 2, Dictionary App is very stable as it should be.

I'm glad to hear this problem will apparently be fixed in the next update. I'm a translator and I have to deal with these crashes many times every day.
I'm running Sierra 10.12.2. Dictionary is still broken for me.
