iPhone 7 screen creaking issue

Hello,

Is anyone else was having this same issue? I have a 7 plus in jet black 128 GB AT&T and whenever I try to use 3D touch (I owned an iPhone 6s for a year so I'm very familiar with 3D touch) or put the phone under any amount of flex (from lifting it up or just holding it with two hands) the phone makes a slight creaking sound that sounds like something is loose (not a bending sound). The smallest amount of flex from everyday use causes the iPhone to make a sound which is quite audible. Pressing one finger on the top of the iPhone and another finger on the bottom of the iPhone at the same time produces the loudest sound.

Thanks

Hello, I have had the same exact issue with my rose gold iPhone 7 plus! I had the phone for only 3 days and knew of the issue. I was terribly afraid that my 7 plus would do it, and sure enough it did the same thing. I was vivid that my brand new phone did this. The next day I took my phone back to Verizon, where I got the phone, and they tried telling me that they "don't see the issue affecting the use of the phone" well my issue here is that I just got the phone and it's built poorly. They also said to me that it's because I'm "bending the phone" so I guess barely flexing the phone is bending it?! Yeah no. So Verizon takes out two brand new iPhone 7 pluses, one in black and one in rose gold, they both made the clicking noise even worse then my phone did. I'm not sure why, but it seems to be the whole iPhone 7 plus product that has this issue because my friend just got the 7 plus and her phone does it too, and my other friend got the jet black 7 plus his did it too. I've even tried it on the iPhone 7 pluses on display in the stores, and they did the same thing. I find this absolutely unbelievable, and would hope that apple here's this issue. I eventually returned my iPhone 7 plus and went down to the regular 7 which I'm having even more issues with this phone! I really wish apple would build a phone that has no issues with it, I'm getting really sick and tired of these expensive phones having manufacturers defects it's getting old apple needs to get it right!!

I am from romania and i also have a jet black 7 plus. I went in 2 mobile phone shops till now and all the jet black 7 pluses, when flexed a little bit made that creak sound. I don't think it is the screen moving but something inside the phone... i looked at the screen while flexing with a flashlight to see if it was moving and it did not move.

For what it's worth, I have this same issue with my matte black 7 plus (32GB/Sprint)

I also had this issue with my iPhone 6. With my iPhone 6, I took it to my local Apple Store, and they replaced the screen for me (free, as at that time, it was within the 1 year warranty period) which fixed the problem initially. Within a month or so though, the screen creaking sound came back. I learned to live with it as it didn't affect my day to day use of the phone.

Now that my 7 plus is doing this, I am a little disheartened--but I think it's a matter of tolerances and problems associated with mass producing a device.

Remember, there's still a solid gasket under the screen and strong adhesive which ensures water and dust resistance.

For the record, the noise is MUCH less noticeable/audible on my 7 plus compared to my old 6.

Hi there, avnyc11!

Thanks for reaching out to the Apple Support Communities! It sounds like you have an issue with your iPhone 7 having a strange sound. I know how important it is to be sure the iPhone doesn't have any issues with it. It sounds like this might be an issue with the phone itself so you might want to go to this link to get in touch with Apple directly: Contact Apple Support

Cheers!

I have exactly the same issue with creaking 7 plus. I've been at Apple Store and they said it's completely normal. What I don't understand is how can it be normal for a $1k product to have that poor assembly. The guy told me some ******** about adhesive but hey, doesn't other iPhones have adhesive? Doesn't iPads with much bigger screens have adhesive too? I still have time to return this iPhone but I want to try another Apple Store to replace it first.

Just wondering how common this issue?
