Q: Apple (UK) won't let me upgrade to Yosemite?

Hi,

I've been happily working on Mountain Lion, but thought I'd shift up to Yosemite, or even El Capitan, as Logic has more stuff to sift through etc.  Sierra is still a no no due to Apple's continued ****** attitude towards it's customers..i.e.using us as human guinea pigs, not paying professionals who expect things to work, AFTER the beta stage.

Thing is, it won't let me upgrade - just pushes me to Sierra, which still has many problems with compatibility.

Where/how can I get an upgrade to Yosemite?

Thanks,

Mac mini, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.5), Logic X

If you previously got Yosemite from the Mac App Store, log into it with the same Apple ID and click on the Purchases tab. If not, go to a physical Apple Store and ask for it.

El Capitan is available by clicking here, but if your Mac is capable of Sierra and running 10.7 or newer, you probably won't be able to get the download.

The app store will only upgrade to the current version, which is macOS Sierra.  Wait for the Sierra update for Logic Pro X and it will be very worth upgrading to Sierra.

Apple does extensive beta testing.  ALL software has bugs when first released.  You seem to be wishing for perfect world, good luck with that.

Sierra has a few minor issues.  If you're using a professional app, it is very common knowledge to never upgrade until all your apps and plugins have updates released for the new OS version.

    Hi,

Yes, it just directs me to Sierra, even if I go to a El Capitan link. Hence my frustration with Apple. Sierra is causing problems with other Logic users.

    Will have to wait.

    Thanks.

    And to reply to BenB….

Thanks for your slightly patronising reply.

I've been using Apple (and other) products since the early pre-Logic days, so fully understand that there is no 'perfect' world with computing, whatever system is used.

I do make my living from producing music via Logic, so yes, sometimes I do get frustrated with the way Apple doles out it's new OS, then having to work around the bugs while trying to consistently produce music. Hence me still being on ML.

    Thanks.
