My sweat damages Apple's aluminium body?

Hi everyone,

I'd like to start by saying that i'm not complaining, just wondering.

I have had a few Apple products over the past few years, and I've noticed that small chipping appears on my products with an aluminium body.

On my Macbook Pro (non retina)

My Macbook Pro (retina)

My Iphone 5

My Iphone 5s

It did not happen with my 3gs, but that was a plastic body wasn't it?

also not on my ipod touch 3 and 4

I've been to several Apple store ofr a solution but they always tell my i've just been knocking and dropping them ( I never dropped any of them and damaged my macbook once on the corner, which i told them about.) One also told me it was from the zip on my be.ez sleeve, which is impossible since the damaged part is always facing downwards.

Now I once complained about this to a couple at a party and one was a dermatologist and the other a metal worker. They told me it could be that the alkalinity in my right hand is strong enough to break the aluminium molecules/atoms, which causes the jagged edges (not it's only on the edges of the products)

It really ***** since I love the feeling of the bodies and no I have a phone case around my 6S permanently so it doesn't happen to that one too. For the Macbook I don't see any fixes but to find a case or tape the edges so I can't damage it.

Would be amazing if Apple could fix this in some way, willing to help them with testing if needed (haha).

Thanks guys, any ideas welcome :-)

iPhone 6s, iOS 10.0.2

People's sweat and secretions vary a great deal, so I suppose it is not outside the realm of possibility that your skin oils and sweat are the cause of micro-corrosion on the aluminum. Anyone who handles firearms probably knows someone who's skin readily corrodes blued carbon steel far more readily than others, so individual differences can indeed affect the metals you handle. I know for myself, the only jewelry I can wear daily is titanium or stainless steel (silver blackens on my skin within a day of wearing).
